Forever With Jesus by Lee Ann Mancini, is an adorable book
about death and how the bible tells us what to expect after we die. The
adorable illustrations by Dan Sharp help keep my kids’ attention, and they
liked finding their favorite character on each page.
When the story begins, we join our friends Guy and Lena while they attend their grandpa’s 80th birthday party. They proceed to go play outside with their cousins. Lena builds a sandcastle with many rooms, so they can all live together when they die. The kids begin to talk about how they don’t want to die, but they have been told that when they do, they will get to go to heaven and be with Jesus.
The kids are then called back inside for lunch where they ask Grandpa why they go to heaven. Grandpa goes on to tell the story of how Jesus died for us, and our sins, so that we can be forgiven.
Later on, the kids are given a chance to deal with death, as their neighbor passes away. This prompts the kids to pray for the family of their neighbor, and realize that as long as they have Jesus in their hearts, they never really die.
This book came at a great time for my family. We recently just lost our dog, and the kids were having a hard time with the fact that everyone dies. Because of Forever With Jesus, they know that as long as they allow Jesus in their lives, they won’t ever really lose anyone, and that has brought them great comfort.
I received this book for review by the publisher through BookCrash.
